A Message from Mrs. Hoynes

February 23, 2024

Dear Lake Families,

Thank you to those families that came out this week for Parent-Teacher Conferences.  They were very well attended as they were in the Fall.  Also, thank you to the PTA and the parent volunteers for helping to make our Valentine’s Day parties a success.  These were the final class parties of the school year believe it or not.  Please remember that in order for parents to volunteer for parties, field trips or other school activities, they must be background checked each school year.  If you have not been background checked with the district and have an interest in volunteering for end of the year activities such as field day, you must contact the board office.

Last week, Shore counselor Miss Herzog visited Lake to share information about the transition from elementary to middle school.  They learned about a day in the life of a middle schooler, scheduling, and some Spring and Summer transition events.  Fifth grade students should have completed and turned in their scheduling sheets by now so that the middle school can begin the scheduling process. Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year begins March 1 for children who will be five years old on or before September 30, 2024.  We have some exciting upcoming events planned for our incoming kindergarteners but students must be registered by May 1st in order to be included.  Contact the Lake main office or the board of education if you have questions about the registration process.

Next week, our third graders will have their music concert on Wednesday, February 28th at 7:00 PM.  This is also house color day for the school day where we will celebrate students’ achievements from the month of February.   Throughout the months of March and April, we will have our Malley’s Chocolates fundraiser.  Information about this fundraiser is included in this newsletter.

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend and the last few days of February!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Laurie Hoynes
