A Message from Mrs. Hoynes

May 3, 2024

Dear Lake Families,

Our third, fourth and fifth grade state testing has been completed and we’re very proud of the hard work our students put forth. May is also the time where our teachers conduct benchmark assessments to measure students’ academic progress from the beginning of the year.  This information will help us make decisions about future instruction and the balancing of classes for the 2024-2025 school year.

We hope our families are enjoying reading Charlotte’s Web! The students are having a lot of fun with classroom activities and daily trivia.  Thank you for joining in on this literacy fun!  We are looking forward to our STREAM Night & Art Show on Tuesday, May 7th from 6:00-7:30 PM. Students and families will have the opportunity to enjoy their artwork on display, engage in Charlotte’s Web themed STREAM activities, and shop at the Book Fair. We hope you will all attend!  Our first and second graders enjoyed themselves at Playhouse Square this week and fourth and fifth grade have upcoming field trips as well.

Next week we will be celebrating our staff for Teacher Appreciation Week.  Our PTA has some great things planned for the week to spoil our staff.  This is a great time to show your appreciation for those that work so hard to support our students each and every day.  We have a busy May, filled with a lot of fun school events and activities.  Please view the calendar of events in this newsletter.  Field Day volunteer information was sent home this week. Again this year, our K-2 students will engage in field day events in the morning and 3-5 in the PM.  Please make sure, if you wish to volunteer for field day or any other end of the year activities, that you have a cleared background check.  Background checks take place at the Board of Education building on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 11:30-4:30.  Enjoy the weekend!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Laurie Hoynes
